The 2016 Fall Harvest Dinner and Fundraiser was a tremendous success. Whether you were a donor, volunteer or guest – it couldn’t happen without your participation and support.
In 2016, approximately 300 people attended our fall celebration. Together, we raised over $50,000! These funds will go to support the work and mission of AITC – to educate Oregon students in grades K-12 about agriculture, the environment and natural resources.
A large part of the evening’s financial success came from the auction items that were generously donated by local businesses, artists, fellow agriculture groups and supporters. In total there were over 125 items in the silent and oral auctions last year. The variety of last year’s stunning auction items included artwork, local food and spirits, vacation getaways, clothing, jewelry and so much more.
The auction also recognized AITC’s Teacher of the Year, Melissa Doherty. Melissa is a huge advocate for agriculture and utilizes many aspects of Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom resources. In her comments he shared about her passion for helping students understand where their food comes from and how AITC resources help her to do just that!
Another tradition of AITC’s annual event is the auctioning of Get Oregonized books, when guests bid on books that will be donated to Oregon schools. This year over 300 textbooks were purchased on behalf of schools in our state. Again, thank you to the generous supporters of AITC and agriculture education!
