My Oregon Plate

My Oregon Plate is based on the new federal nutrition model, My Plate.gov. It introduces the new nutrition model, the five food groups, and makes a local connection to good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Ask students to name foods they think are “good for them” (healthy and nutritious). Discuss why they think certain foods help them grow and stay healthy, while other foods should be eaten in
  • smaller amounts. Make sure they understand foods that provide vitamins, minerals and energy help developing bodies grow strong and healthy.
