My Oregon Plate

My Oregon Plate is based on the new federal nutrition model, My Plate.gov. It introduces the new nutrition model, the five food groups, and makes a local connection to good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
- Ask students to name foods they think are “good for them” (healthy and nutritious).
- Discuss why they think certain foods help them grow and stay healthy, while other foods should be eaten in smaller amounts.
- Make sure they understand foods that provide vitamins, minerals and energy help developing bodies grow strong and healthy.
