Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom is excited to introduce our Specialty Crop Box Subscription program. Oregon 3rd-5th grade educators are eligible to apply for a monthly subscription featuring Oregon specialty crops mailed during the 2020-2021 school year. The box will include a fun and engaging lesson and all of the supplies. Lessons will be adapted to a virtual format as needed. Program Information

Overview

Each month from September – June during the 2020-2021 school year, participating classrooms will receive a box with a themed lesson mailed to their school.
The inquiry box will include items for students to learn about Oregon specialty crops through a provided lesson plan and materials, the lessons range in length from 1-2 hours.
Find a complete list of featured topics below. Lesson plan and activity details will be released a month prior to distribution for planning purposes.
Subscription box materials will be adapted to fit remote learning environments, if needed.

Eligibility

Oregon classrooms with students in 3-5th grade.
Applications will be evaluated based on first-come, first-serve basis, and selected based upon class size and school location in order to fulfill grant objectives.

Educator Responsibilities

Participants must implement, or adapt, the curriculum materials provided in the box in their class curriculum within the month delivered.
Participants must respond to a monthly two-question survey sent to their email prior to the arrival of the box. This email will provide the option for educators to opt-out of the program if at any time it doesn’t align with their curriculum or interests.
Participants must complete a final evaluation upon completion of the subscription box project in June 2021. Sign up to be put on our subscription box waitlist!
