School gardens are an important teaching tool for engaging students in various academic topics. The school garden is also just as critical in connecting students with their community. This year’s Seeding School Garden event focuses on the school garden as a bridge between schools and the community.

Event sessions:

  1. Panel Discussion: Hear stories and gather wisdom from our panel of Washington County community & school garden experts.
  2. School garden workshop
  3. Group Collaboration and Discussion: Attendees will collaborate and discuss with one another to problem-solve school garden needs and locate bridges of support across the community.

Event registration is reserved for current K-12 classroom educators in Washington County, school garden educators and coordinators who provide direct support and coordination of school garden activities (before/after care, club, local organization, community or parent volunteer), and limited adjacent community members and organizations*.

*Please reach out to Anita Spaeth, Washington County Programs Coordinator, at anita.spaeth@oregonstate.edu if you are not directly involved in school gardens but may contribute valuable perspective based on this years’ event theme.
