Oregon Metro Oregon Metro provides information on a variety of grants that seek to further community engagement and time spent outside. The Community Placemaking grants may be especially relevant for school garden programs. The 2019 application period for the placemaking grant has closed.

2020 CHS Foundation Scholarship Application Are you an Educator looking to attend a national conference in Utah this summer? You are in luck! CHS Foundation provides scholarships to Pre-Kindergarten-12th grade teachers to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference each year.The scholarship covers a $435 early conference registration for teachers selected. The application is now available. Recipients are notified in mid-March before the early registration deadline in mid-April. Only state-certified classroom teachers who are employed by a school district or private school are eligible to apply. The conference is scheduled for June 24-26.

Annie’s Grant to Edible School Gardens Want a school garden? Annie’s believes that showing future generations how sustainable food is grown changes their lives. Connecting kids to gardens helps them to star thinking more holistically about their food, their communities, and the planet.

American Heart Association Teaching Gardens grants We want every child to develop healthy eating habits, have access to nutritious food and understand where fruits and vegetables come from. That’s where our Teaching Gardens Network comes in. Funding is available, and you’ll get a hands-on learning experience through school garden support and standards-based curriculum. Just apply to our garden grant program, which is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year. Participating schools get access to free gardening resources, a national garden network, name recognition on our Teaching Gardens Network website and certificate or participation.

Green Thumb Challenge Grant GEF and Gardener’s Supply Company have teamed up on an exciting funding opportunity for established youth garden projects nationwide! The organizations are calling on schools and youth groups to submit chronicles of their garden projects in a race to win a $500 prize. Sponsor-A-Hive Bee Partnerships This grant provides bees and equipment so that people can safely construct, maintain, and observe bees. Participants may receive, honey bees, mason bees, and/or leafcutter bees. A teacher’s kit is also provided.

Honey Bee Grant With the support of partners, The Bee Cause provides grants to help schools and organizations install and maintain their own observation hives. The Herb Society of America These grants ensure that the use of herbs in teaching elementary school students will continue for years to come, a tradition Mr. Samull — an elementary school teacher — used in his classroom to engage and inspire his 3rd–6th grade students. GroMore Grassroots Grant In collaboration with The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and KidsGardening, The National Head Start Association is honored to bring the life-enhancing benefits of gardens to more children and families in the Head Start community. Schools, community action programs, non-profits, hospitals, community centers and inter-generational groups that hosts Head Start programs are eligible to apply. Cultivating Healthy Communities School garden projects furthering healthier choices are invited to apply to this grant program through Aetna. In addition to directly addressing healthy behaviors, projects can focus on the built environment, community safety, environmental exposures, and social/economic factors.
