Community Food Systems: Tracing and Teaching the Journey of Our Local Food Supply Chain

Friday, May 22nd

5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.

In-person at Stoneboat Farm, 10850 NW Jackson Quarry Rd, Hillsboro

Join us for a special in-person workshop opportunity to learn about community food systems! Teaching about our food supply chain introduces students of all ages to important concepts such as sustainability, supply and demand, communications and marketing, as well as the influence of geopolitics on local food production.

During this workshop, attendees will learn the basics of local food production while on tour of Stoneboat Farm*, a sustainable vegetable farm in Hillsboro known for its robust CSA program! The tour will be followed by a collaborative conversation on ways in which AITC can help to bring these concepts into the classroom.

*We will be on a functioning farm and outside on uneven terrain. Please bring closed toe shoes and layers in the event of rain.

Dinner is provided, and dietary alternatives will be made available!

Free classroom resources will be mailed out to participating educators proceeding the workshop. Educators must be present to receive materials.

Registration is required. Please use the form below to register.

*Due to budgetary constraints, this educator workshop is exclusive to educators (public, private, homeschool, online, and school garden coordinators) actively teaching in Washington County only.
