Students will make individual posters and engage in a poetry activity to learn about the importance of eating lots of different colored fruits and vegetables.
- Set the stage for good nutrition by first completing the My Oregon Plate lesson.
- It introduces the new federal nutrition guidelines, the five food groups, and Oregon grown foods that fit into each of these groups.
- Post a copy of the Grown in Oregon map and point out all the different types of foods grown in Oregon.
- After you have set the ground work, tell students they will be making an Oregon fruit and vegetable rainbow.
