Many foods we eat and grow in Oregon are not indigenous or native to North America. In this lesson students study the origin of fruits and vegetables from around the world and understand how the Columbian Exchange altered people’s lives.

Students learn about the challenges of planning for development while still protecting important farmland, forestland and wildlife habitat. This two-part lesson allows students to brainstorm creative solutions using critical thinking, math, teamwork and problem solving skills.

Students will get hooked on wool spinning as they learn about wool and where it comes from. Using carded wool and spinning hooks, students will create friendship bracelets to wear home!
